About the Facebook / Twitter settings on LJ

I've stolen this one from catwoman2704 and I totally agree with what she posted. Please read and if you have a problem with this, well, either tell me or please defriend my journal.
You may know I post personal things here, nothing world-changing, but to ME they are personal. Hence why most of my posts are friends only.
I've absolutely NO interest in finding things from my posts on Facebook or Twitter. Apart from that I use Facebook as a tool for people to find me but that's about it. And I don't do Twitter. I've no interest in supporting either of them this way.

Here goes:
Do NOT use the Facebook or Twitter crossposting feature with comments on my LJ.

I will take it as an attack on my privacy, and I will not tolerate it.

Thank you.

As an aside, if you do i will click defriend if i find any of my comments are found on Facebook or Twitter. This journal is all about me and my private life and i DO NOT want it blazened across Facebook / Twitter. I value my privacy.

If you do not like what i am saying then click defriend now

Thank you!

i totally feel you. my whole journal is friends logged...

[identity profile] naurwen.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
so is mine, but apparently replies to entries can still be linked onto facebook and twitter this way.

Don't worry, I totally agree with you and have posted an entry like this myself!

[identity profile] naurwen.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
thank you :)

eurgh.

[identity profile] manyoceans.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
WTF???? Oh man, I don't like this new feature either! I had figured that since all of my posts are friends-locked they were safe from the possibility of this. :-( :-( I too will have to check into this, how awful - LiveJournal was supposed to be as private as we wanted it to be! Argh - thanks for this warning, though.

Facebook is annoying to be everywhere really :/ so do I my LJ's friends only, so why on earth such options are available now?

[identity profile] lobolita.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally agree. I don't understand why you would even crosspost all your comments to FB by default, what naive kind of person does that???!!!

[identity profile] naurwen.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I've just thought I'd ask (totally different theme...lol):
I've been making MiniZines these days and sent two as PDFs to some pals and friends who i thought may be interested. I thought maybe you'd be interested, too?
They're pagan-themed so far - one for Mabon, one Goddess themed.
If you'd like them (so far I just make them for fun and emailing them is just easier :)) - gimme email addy? ;)

[identity profile] naurwen.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
you're welcome
I think it's awful - the OWNER of a journal should decide upon this and not whoever writes a reply or simply leaves a message. :o

[identity profile] naurwen.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
exactly.
if I want to have something on facebook, I post it on facebook.
or wherever else.
I guess it's so everyone can post everywhere, but seriously, if people would start posting short entrances like they do on facebook here on LJ, I will kind of stop being interested. LJ is more than just letting people know that you've cooked a soup in a short one-liner...

[identity profile] naurwen.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
no idea, someone who wants to be super-public? like... with a million people or so? *shudders*

[identity profile] carla-flydance.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with you. I don't want my entries or comments to be on twitter or facebook. I should made my journal only friends too.

(Anonymous) 2010-09-02 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
yay, i am... :D i email you my email... :D

[identity profile] anwyn-elfmaiden.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
ich war das jetzt... :D ganz anonym...

[identity profile] naurwen.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
in my opinion it's wrong this option even exists :/

[identity profile] naurwen.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! spoooooky :D

[identity profile] blur-kiwi.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
I'm with you 100%.

I can't help thinking that I'm posting in LJ because I want to post in LJ. If I wanted to post something in Facebook I would go to Facebook to do it.

Why can't people keep that distinction?

So, yes, I agree with you. :)

[identity profile] carla-flydance.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know for what they added this option.

[identity profile] naurwen.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
yes, well said :p

[identity profile] jackiesjottings.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
Hear hear, I am going to make a similar post.

[identity profile] naurwen.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
:/

[identity profile] blur-kiwi.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
I made a similar post in my LJ and one of my friends very kindly commented with this.

A thing that apparently makes the buttons disappear from your page:

http://pombagira.livejournal.com/208640.html (instructions)

I did it and tested it after logging out, and the buttons were indeed gone.

I thought I read that this is a feature both parties have to enable to make work? Or is it the other way around, and it's one of those ducky things that arrives enabled and you have to disable?

At any rate, what would make anyone think that they were free to share a friends locked post or comment? Such a 'friend' should rightly be removed at once. I can't imagine ever violating the trust of someone like that.

FaceBook and Twitter. Blegh!
